About Grand Cypress Golf Club-New Course (Orlando, FL)
This beautifully designed Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course opened in 1988 to great fanfare. Inspired by his great performances through the years at St. Andrews Old Course, Jack pays homage here to the birthplace of golf. A "links-style" design to its greatest degree, reminders of St. Andrews appear throughout the course with 150-plus bunkers, elevated tees and greens, stone walls, a winding burn (including a stone bridge crossing), and seven huge, double greens. Plus, replicas of the world-famous first and 18th holes at St. Andrews Old Course and Nicklaus' version of the Road Hole. All in all, it's quite a tribute to the Old Course. Impeccable playing conditions year-round for every caliber of golfer. And do yourself a favor - after golf, the Nine18 Restaurant (20% discount off menu) is the perfect way to end your perfect day at Grand Cypress!
Added-value: Complimentary range balls, 20% discount on all golf shop merchandise (excludes golf equipment)

Rick (Yorba Linda, CA) says:
The greens were super fast and the course was in good shape

Dean (Saint Paul, MN) says:
I liked the course which was designed after Saint Andrews. Some of my party liked this course the least out of all the courses. This is individual preference.

Kurt (Stamford, CT) says:
remains one of our favorite courses 2nd round for free is great

William (Mcdonough, GA) says:
Only downside to playing the new course is the GPS - not giving you enough distances to the numerous pot-bunkers. Overall nice course & service
Commented on 11/22/2010
Norbert (Vulcan, MI) says:
Some in our group liked the course, others didn't. Not penalizing shots that are 75 yards left or right, due to no rough or simply hitting into an adjacent fairway, but severely punishing a drive in the fairway that happens to catch a pot bunker detracts from the enjoyment of the course. Also don't care for the numerous double greens and the the simulated stone cart paths that make for a rough ride.
Commented on 11/16/2010
Rafael (Herndon, VA) says:
I consider this course the best one of the four played. The amount of bunkers made up for the lack of water. They really made you think how, where and what club you were going to use--every time.

Lou (Dumont, NJ) says:

Tom (Denver, CO) says:
Was one of the most boring courses. Felt it was holes placed in a field. No interest and totally unexciting. Cancelled Sat round there.

HARD TO FIND YOUR WAY AROUND THE COURSE,ONLY DIFFERENT COLOR FLAGS TO TELL YOU WHERE TO SHOOT AT.....

Willis (Port Richey, FL) says:
played it on the last day of the british open and it was great. loved the layout on the walls and the bunkers
Commented on 07/27/2010
Kenneth (Danvers, MA) says:
Course has many holes in the links style. Would be tough on windy day. Many pot bunkers not visible so note general location on GPS. Excellent playing conditions despite wet weather. Bunkers (they have lots of them) well maintained and greens were true-rolling.
Commented on 06/16/2010
Jim (Plantation, FL) says:
Don't like being penalized on good shots because of pot bunkers and being rewarded for bad shots because there is no rough. Absolutely hate that bumpy cart path!
Commented on 05/03/2010
Dennis (Valparaiso, IN) says:
I love The New Course
Commented on 05/03/2010
Michael (Lancaster, PA) says:
Course was in nice shape. Plenty of room for wayward shots. Did not like double greens as we are not always as accurate as we should be. Front nine was not a problem as we were out early but, by the back nine you had to be careful on some of the holes. Skip lunch here. Not worth the price for what you get
Commented on 04/26/2010
Tom (Haddonfield, NJ) says:
New course is a replica of St Andrews and was very neat to play with the double greens.
Commented on 04/26/2010
Rick (Hopkinton, NH) says:
Pace of play was slower (likely related to the number of traps), true greens, interesting layout with the look of the Old Course merged with the local terrain.
Commented on 04/24/2010
Andrew (Wellesley, MA) says:
Played as second round. A bit too much like a field with holes in it. Very forgiving for the driver
